PHILADELPHIA—Philadelphia officials have filed a
lien against the son of a congressman over what they say is more than
$31,000 in unpaid business-privilege taxes.
Chaka "Chip" Fattah Jr. is the son of U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah, a
Democrat representing Philadelphia and some of its suburbs. Revenue Commissioner Keith Richardson tells The Philadelphia Inquirer (
http://bit.ly/MOC3Vq) that the lien was filed June 14.
Richardson says it could enable the city to freeze the younger Fattah's
bank accounts
or block the sale of any real estate he owns until he pays. The filing
did not list the name of the business he operated, but said he owed
$31,434.
Ronald Sarachan, a lawyer for the Chip Fattah, declined comment.
