Sen. Feinstein Rips CIA: Spying on Congressional Staffers May Have Violated Constitution

More Hypocrisy from DiFi

Chair of the Senate Intelligence CommitteeDianne Feinstein (D-CA) — or DiFi, as she’s known on the Twitterz — took to the Senate floor to excoriate the Central Intelligence Agency forallegedly spying on Senate staffers who were investigating, wait for it, the CIA.
“Based on what Director Brennan has informed us, I have grave concerns that the CIA’s search may well have violated the separation of powers principles embodied in the United States Constitution, including the speech and debate clause,” Feinstein said. “It may have undermined the constitutional framework essential to effective congressional oversight of intelligence activities or any other government function.”
“I have asked for an apology, and a recognition that this CIA search of computers used by its oversight committee was inappropriate,” Feinstein continued. “I have received neither.”
The Senate staffers were investigating the CIA’s use of detention programs in preparation for a 3,600-page report. To allow the staffers to view classified materials, the CIA set them up at secure computers at Langley, which, according to a McClatchy scoop last week, were monitored by the CIA in express violation of an agreement between the agency and Congress.
